I'm writing a course proposal for a reading workshop class for high school modeled on the one described in Nancie Atwell's The Reading Zone - a reading lab/workshop where students have plenty of free time to read books of their own choice. Assessment will be through setting personal reading goals, assignments that share books with others, booktalks, etc. The goal of the course is to "to encourage students to become skilled, passionate, habitual, critical readers." I need a name for the class! I want something that will look good on a transcript, and I'm at a total loss. Any suggestions? Thanks!
