Hi, A few weeks ago I posted a question to the group regarding the conversion costs involved with switching to Destiny, since our CIRC/CAT isn't going to be supported forever. The majority of the responses requested a HIT and had no information to share, so my results are minimal, but here they are. Our district is small. We have a k-2 school, a 3-5 school and then my school which is a 6-8th grade middle school. Our 8th graders move up to regional high school, which also runs CIRC/CAT. Here's a quote I received from the sales department: "Your district can also choose from a selection of optional products and services to customize your solution, including a variety of subscription services, data services and peripherals. Based upon a three (3) site district, your initial costs for Destiny Library Manager including MARC Data Enhancement and Custom Cleanup for three (3) locations will be between $13,904 and $15,989. Your estimated annual licensing and maintenance costs will be between $2,450 and $2,817. The range is dependent upon your data needs and other customization options available for your students and teachers. These estimates will be valid through October 25, 2008. This is a cost estimate only." Here's the responses I received from LMNET: Diane: Please do not take this as a quote for what it would cost your school. We are one private school with three campuses and a library at each one, to transition from Dynix to Destiny (3 years ago) it cost us $17,000. 5,000 of our records were purged given the bad cataloging, but it was expected. Our yearly maintenance fee is $3000. However, let me point out that we also purchased Title Peek which provides us with the ability to see the covers of the books. We love the program, there are minor glitches, but nothing that we have not overcome. Moreover, their updates truly do reflect input from their customers. For our one K-12 building it was over $3000.00. This was with a discount of $1500.00 We converted when I was at another school about a year ago. Our holdings were about 45,000 titles for two schools combined. The cost for the software, conversion, and fees were around $5,000. You will probably get a variety of different prices, but the vendors CAN work with you....keep working them! Be sure to add the cost of a dedicated server to anything anybody quotes you. Apparently Destiny needs its own server. Hope this minimal info helps anyone who's in the same boat as us !
