[LM_NET] Secondary HIT: JSTOR

Dear LM_NETters,
Thanks to all who responded to my question about JSTOR.  Most responses from 
schools who participate were favorable, with the high cost of the
subscription noted.  Project MUSE was also suggested and is less expensive. 
One caveat with JSTOR is that the information is not current but may be 2 to 5
years old. It was generally considered helpful to have students exposed to 
using scholarly publications for research at the high school level, thus better
prepping them for the experience in college.  A public librarian (reference 
and YA librarian) that I spoke to noted that EBSCO has much of what students
need and that she used EBSCO and Project MUSE almost exclusively through college 
and library school with brief forays into JSTOR when a citation
warranted.  Another high school librarian that I spoke to said his staff and 
students love JSTOR and use it regularly and he would push for creative ways
to get the funding to get the subscription if it's not in the budget.
