Greetings, Well it is that time of year again! We are looking at our summer reading lists and talking about what if any requirement we want students to complete along with their summer reading. Over the years our district has had a variety of summer reading packets. The one assignment that stuck the longest was our annotated short list that included all reading levels and asked students to choose a summer reading book from the list. During the first week of school, teachers would then divide the school up and have book discussions. I felt the list was limited and we are contemplating a new list with just authors to give kids a wider choice of authors and genres. Do we have an assignment?? I would be interested in hearing how other schools handle summer reading.
