I've used VoiceThread this year for a few different projects, though not for book
reviews.
I signed up for the $10 teacher account, because I wanted the VoiceThreads to be
part of the K-12 network, rather than the open-to-anybody network. I made a bunch
of different "identities" that the kids could use when adding to the VoiceThread.
The advantage to this is only paying for the single account; the disadvantage is
that you either have to log the kids on yourself, or trust them with your password.
I really like how VoiceThread works--you can embed the VoiceThread right in a
website (just like YouTube!)--and I have found their customer service to be very
friendly and quick to respond to e-mails.
