The Obama-Biden transition team has asked the public to share their
ideas about how to make positive change in the country. This is a great
opportunity to speak up for libraries! We all know the many ways
libraries positively impact the community, so please take a few moments
to join this grassroots effort and inform the transition team about the
vital role libraries play, and please encourage your patrons and library
supporters to do the same. Specifically, you should ask the President
Elect to support ALA's request for a $100 million stimulus package to
help libraries meet the increased needs of their patrons who are
struggling in this tough economy. To make it easy for you, YALSA has
some talking points that you can adapt or personalize regarding teens
and libraries: http://www.ala.org/ala/yalsa/TalkingPoints_Advoca.pdf.
Information about ALA's request for funding is here:

To share your message about the importance of libraries with the
transition team, simply go to http://change.gov/, click on the "Tell Us
Your Story" button and fill in the brief online form. It's simple, easy,
and can make a big difference if enough library supporters get involved.
Thank you for all that you do and have a wonderful holiday season!
