You obviously don't live in Texas where giving candy or any food items
to students has been banned to fight obesity. Like this is what made
kids overweight! :-)

Reading Month, we are combining the two themes by having a used book
donation which will in turn provide the books for a school wide Book
Crossing endeavor. I purchased lots of penny candy (about $30 worth)
and for each book donated, the student/or faculty member gets a piece of
candy. After the books have been "donated" to the library, I will lay
them out on tables in the library for all to come get one or two to
read. The idea is to read the "free" book and then pass it along into
the community as a Book Crossing book. (Leaving a book in a public
place so that another may pick up and read - thus sending the book on an
adventure of its own. The Book Crossing motto is to make the world a
library.) I'm excited to get started and see what happens!
