A retired principal from my district approached me today and asked me to
come up with a wish list. She "knows people" who would be happy to help.

What would you put on a wish list? Every thing I think of doesn't seem
needed or necessary.

I am in an elementary school of 550 students. We are first, second, and
third grades.

We are automated with InfoCenter, probably changing to Destiny over the
summer.

I am on a fixed schedule and that is not going to change. The children
visit once a week. I probably have about 20 per day visit outside of
their class time with overdues.

I have a part time aide. I'd love for her to be full time, but that is
an administrative situation. I'm sure a one time gift would not change
her to full time.

The third graders do AR.

We have been in this building 15 years. The furniture and carpets are in
good condition.

I have about 14,000 books. I usually have budget money to spend. I have
to very successful book fairs each year. We gets lots of book donations.
Some books need to be weeded, and some popular ones need to be replaced,
but we are not in bad shape at all.

There's a computer lab next door and another across the hall. When the
kids are here with me we don't do computers. I have one I use for my
lessons. I have a laptop that I can take home.

I'd love to be able to get out of lunch duty, so the library could be
open, but without me the cafeteria would be short.

I'd love to be paid to stay after school, but most kids go home on the
bus. There is no late bus.

I'd love for my aide to be here with me all day every day, but I don't
think a gift would pay for that.

We don't need new books or computers.

If you were me, what would you wish for?
