So I just watched Brian Selznick and Laura Amy Schlitz being interviewed on
the Today Show from this past Tuesday, and it was one scary scene. The
interviewer, Ann Curry, barely let them get a word in; she called Laura Amy by the
name of Laura Ann and said she was a teacher, not a librarian; and asked them
both the world's dumbest questions which she then proceeded to answer herself.
What a shame--I'd've given anything to have heard what they had to say. On the
plus side, Curry was enthusiastic and appeared to have read at least a summary
of the books. But what a wasted opportunity. Check it out--

Guess we'll just need to wait for the Newbery-Caldecott speeches at ALA.
