I agree with Judy. I think we should protest this by doing much better videointerviews with those 3 (Brian, Laura Amy, and Lorriene) and push it through youtube/teachertube and more through the power of web 2.0. The reporter did children's literature a disservice. I was irritated by her rushing through HER commentary, repeating "In other words", and talking over the guests. I was reading Betsy Bird's description of the Awards and this video on her blog http://www.schoollibraryjournal.com/blog/1790000379/post/1960020196.html and noted how many other people were frustrated with the interview on TODAY. Perhaps we should be contacting the members of ALA's e-Participation TaskForce to encourage them to make a video of the author speeches during Annual live webcasts so everyone can truly HEAR the authors in their own words. If you can't be there to hear the speeches, you are missing one of the best parts. Can't wait to cheer these on at Annual in Annaheim, CA. -- Diane R.
