Group, I am looking to revise an author study project I collaborate with 6th grade language arts teachers. In the past, students read 3-4 picture books written by the same author. They were asked to keep a similarities/differences list comparing the books. Then students did background research on the author's personal life. Our hope was for students to see a direct connection between an author's life experiences and his/her writing. Since our list of authors is quite varied, it was nearly impossible to develop just one set of questions for all students to research. Of course, we covered the basic low level questions (who, what, where, when). The teacher and I are considering a list of high level questions and allowing students to choose which 2 they want to answer. What higher level questions do you think should be included? I will post a hit of results by the end of this week. Thanks in advance for your input.
