Hello This coming year, I will be teaching a film class for juniors and seniors in our library. I've never taught film before and took only a few classes back in college, and thought I would tap the wisdom of this group to see if any of you have ever taught film to high school kids. I'm excited about it, as this was my choice of an elective to teach, but I want it to be good and cover a broad spectrum of films and topics. The class is called Intro to Film, so it will involve viewing and analyzing films as well as learning about lighting, direction, casting, etc. I also want to include filmmaking, with the dinosaur cameras that we have... I've begun searching other schools' syllabi for ideas but reading a syllabus doesn't always tell you how well it went over with the kids. Any suggestions for resources to look at? Films I absolutely shouldn't leave out? Books to use as "textbooks" for the students?
