Jeri-

Unfortunately many teachers have the same attitude about their kids "superior"
knowledge of the Internet. Then they are shocked when they receive a paper almost
wholly plagiarized with few resources listed from these same kids.

Our jobs are to convince administrators that every student, no matter how much time
they spend online, needs to be educated in the ethical use of Internet resources as
well as how to critically evaluate a website.

My favorite story about Internet abuse perpetrated by an educator was the teacher
in my elementary school who taught kids how to cut and paste online information
(from web pages and online encyclopedias) into a Word document but never mentioned
citing resources or even listing where they found the information. You can imagine
the classroom teachers response when they received a research paper without any
sources cited!!!
