In wonderfully quick response to my query yesterday, the consensus is: From Solinet Environmental Specification for the storage of Library and Archival Materials and HVAC advice from Museums, the recommendation is 40-55% relative humidity. Northeast Document Conservation Center and the 1995 ASHRAE (Am. Soc. of Heating, Refrigerating and air-Conditoning Engineers) Handbook both suggest that a stable relative humidity between 30-35% and 50% is best. I'm going to take all the information to my principal today and see if we can't work towards the lower side of 50% Thank you to all who sent such helpful information and support!.
