Hi Everyone--

I am, as of 10 minutes ago, breathing a HUUUUUGE sigh of relief. I just sent 
in, by mail and e-mail attachment both, my newly finished book, The Winners! 
Handbook, to my editor at Libraries Unlimited. I do the handbook as a handout 
for my Winners! Conference every year in NJ, so it'll be in print and available 
by the end of April. This is definitely the best one ever. (FIVE new Reader's 
Theater scripts, SEVEN new teacher's guides, lotsa worksheety things and 
songs, plus my 100 best books of 2007 described in yards of zippy verbiage with 
zillions of Germs, my pithy little ideas. Whew. It weighs in at 240+ pages.) You

The book is beautiful. I am a sorry wreck--my wrists ache, my head's 
exploding, my shoulders have turned to twine, and I am in dire need of some really 
good Belgian chocolate. Been burning the oil up in my garret till 3 a.m. all week 
to get this baby done in time, and my brain has just turned to oatmeal. My 
husband, Izzy, talks to me, and I see his mouth moving, but I have absolutely no 
idea of what he's saying. I think I lose a lot of brain cells each time I 
write one of these things. 

For those of you close or close-ish to New Jersey, note that I'll be giving 
my 24th Annual Winners! Workshop (which obviously I started doing when I was 7) 
from Apr. 29-May 2, 2008. You can find out all about our blast of a one-day

it, could you pass the word along for me to your friends and colleagues? It's 
my favorite workshop of the whole year, like my BER seminars but on steroids, 
and with a great lunch which I always swear I'm NOT going to eat, but always 
do. This year there are so many fabulous books, I can't get over it. If you 
can't come, you can still get the new handbook (or last year's, if you missed 
it), sit down with a nice cannoli, and pretend you're there.
