We have an Albanian student that is having a very hard time reading the book Night by Elie Wiesel. Apparently, many of the incidents (specifically the dying babies, etc.) are very similar to the experiences she and her family experienced and fled from in Albania. So, I am looking for an alternative text for our English teacher. One of the big assignments at the end of the project is to have the student write a memoir. Have any of you read a book that still deals with the same issues as Night but without as much detail? Thanks!
