Elizabeth, Looking for Alaska is one of my favorite young adult books, but I took it out of our collection as soon as I read the passage to which you refer. I did this before it could be challenged, because I knew that a challenge would come and I would lose. The passage is played for laughs, but it's very explicit. I did send the book to our high school, where it still sits unchallenged on the shelf. My colleague there reports that it is one of the more popular books in her collection.
