It sounds like a video mirroring issue. Sometimes, you have to set your laptop to mirror the display from the laptop to the LCD projector. On a Mac, this setting is in the System Preferences > Displays > Arrangement. On a PC, you can typically right-click and change the display properties to notebook + monitor (I think that's the setting, anyway). Hope this helps... E-mail me off-list if need be.
