My original question is below. I received four suggestions for fall, non-holiday books: Lionel in the Fall (Krensky) Henry and Mudge Under the Yellow Moon (Rylant) Crossing Bok Chitto (Tingle) The Widow's Broom (Van Allsburg) I've passed these titles along to the reading specialist.
