Fun thread for the holiday week here in the US...
How about those names you can't bear to use? My husband passed on "Scout" for our
new puppy (didn't get to use it for kids either, we have boys!), but was willing to
name our black and white puppy "Searchlight" after Stonefox. I just couldn't do
it... I still cry whenever I read that book!
My students had a great time making the connection between carefully choosing a
book from the shelves and carefully choosing a puppy from a litter. And of course,
there's so many teaching opportunities about book care with a puppy around!
