I read a book about 2 years ago that I absolutely loved. I would like
to read more by the same author. Of course - I cannot for the life of
me remember either the title or the author. the book was for adults -
but i have students who are mature enough to handle it - and would love
it. Here is the basic story:

Girl from a wealthy Florentine family during the renaissance is a born
artist. Because women were not considered the equal of men, she was not
given any access to art training - or even to supplies. She needed to
hide her art work and improvise her own paints etc. Eventually she was
married off disastrously to an older man. Falls in love with an artist
hired by her father. Eventually she is accused of being a witch when
Savonarola comes into power in the city.

Can anyone help with this title. I think my students who love "Pillars
of the earth" and "world without end" will love this one. Thanks in
advance for access to the amazing collective brain!!
