The Little Red Hen
Bear Feels Sick – Karma/Wilson
The Gruffalo - Donaldson
Knuffle Bunny - Willems
Where's My Mom - Julia Donaldson
Jamie Lee Curtis' new book, Big Words for Little People is a fun (and educational)
book to read and it's brand new so they may not already know it. You could also go
with a book that has an easy prop with it, like buy some bunny ears at a Halloween
display to wear while you read It's Not Easy Being a Bunny, or buy some fairy wings
to wear while you read Alice the Fairy. This is the perfect time of year to find
cheap props. You could also bring a stuffed animal that goes with your story - and
you don't have to do puppeteering with it. I have a stuffed snake that I wear like
a boa when I read any snake book because my snake LOVES snake stories like Baby
Rattlesnake. Sometimes I just wear him in and then stretch him out on a bookcase
behind me while I read. I have a stuffed bear that I hold on my lap when I read a
bear story like It's the Bear!
Leonardo the terrible monster – Willems
How I Became a Pirate by Melinda Long
Skippyjon Jones by Judy Schachner
Hooway for Wodney Wat and Princess Penelope's Parrot by Helen Lester (actually all
of her books make great read-alouds!)
Falling for Rapunzel by Leah Wilcox
If I Built a Car by Chris Van Dusen
We’re Going on a Bear Hunt – Oxenbury and Rosen recommended
Martina the Beautiful Cockroach

Stand Back Said the Elephant, I’m Going to Sneeze - Patricia Thomas and Wallace
Tripp
Hooway for Wodney Wat by Helen Lester
The Day I Became Pirate, Napping House and True Story of the Three Little Pigs
A Fine,Fine School by Sharon Creech
Cha cha Chimps
Library Dragon by Carmen Agra Deedy, great for inflections!Herschel and the
Hanukkah Goblins by Kimmel, my favorite to read aroundChristmas, and wonderful if
your voice can hold out for the KING OF THEGOBLINS!Book! Book! Book! by BrussWe're
going on a book hunt Pat MillerMr. Wiggle's Book by Paula CraigWhat happened to
Marion's book? by Brook BergGrace for president by Kelly DiPucchio
Anything by Margie Palatini. Especially Piggie Pie or Zoom Broom.Anything by Robert
Munsch.Grandpa's Teeth by Rod Clement But this time of year, the perfect book would
be The Boogeyman by BarbaraPark
"Sometimes I like to curl up in a ball" is one of my favoritesAnd "The Great Gracie
Chase," along with "Let's Get a Pup, said Kate," which is a great read aloud.
Robert Munsch books are very funny, but they can get long. The paperbag princess is
great by him.
Book Boris ate a thesaurus / written by Neil Steven Klayman ; illustrated by Barry
M. Chung
