I am noticing a decline in the number of new non-fiction and reference
books available for purchase. I was aware that this is a trend - but
right now I am weeding our 300s and looking for updates. I am surprised
at how few replacement titles are available. In many cases, the books I
am weeding were series books published 1998 and earlier. When I go to
the publisher to see if an update has been published - more often than
not, no update has been published. Interesting....

I have already interfiled my reference and non-fiction sections and
expanded my fiction and recreational non-fiction etc. But in a few
years, I can foresee taking out books cases to make more space for
computers.

No real question here I guess. Just an observation. Interestingly,
many of the books I am considering for weeding have actually been
heavily used. When I can't find an update, I feel a bit like
Shakespeare (To toss or not to toss. That is the question.) I feel
like I am creating holes in my collection that I will be unable to fill.
I am glad that I've been adding to my ebook reference collection.
