Thanks to all who replied.  A big concern is teaching kids methods other than
Google to research.  The rest of the replies are below.

-We get lots of students at the high school who still don't know how to use the
online library catalog, so I would make sure that there were some lessons on that!

Plus, I'd offer some lessons on library databases.

I'd also offer some lessons on websites that are helpful for school life in
general--dictionaries, citation tools, etc.

-I would use the All About Explorers ready made lessons. Here is the link:

Would you be interested in test driving my  2.0 curriculum?   check it out on:
http://mslearning2.blogspot.com/.   It's built on the same structure as the CSLA
School Library Learning 2.0 tutorial...but geared to middle school [and higher]
students.  I've been trying to get some "test drivers" to give me comments, but
summer came and all the takers got busy!  It's free and available for anyone to
download to a new blog and re-title it with their school logo or whatever!  I have
a teacher's guide to go with it too.  :)
Anyway - these topics are the ones I think are crucial.  It'll be great to see the
results of your question!

- In light of the amount of information available these days, I agree with you re
the whole media literacy angle, but I also think students need to practice more
critical thinking skills which can best be taught by introducing essential
questions.  Check out this website which has lots of ideas:
