Hi, I am curious about student printing policies in other high schools. We have
networked copy machine printers and the teachers are constantly warned for relying
on them too much to make copies. However, printing goes on pretty much unchecked.

It seems that the new "busy work" from teachers is booking a lab, getting the
students to research some topic, and then printing out page after page on that
topic. What they do with this printed material, I don't know. I think the
teachers feel like they are using technology well but in the end not much learning
is actually happening here.

So as I work on trying to retrain teachers better lesson plans using the web I
would appreciate hearing from others who have encountered/solved some of these
issues.

How do most buildings, media centers, or districts monitor student printing?

Thanks!
