Just got back today to find out our MS language arts teachers want to change their curriculum and came to me for book suggestions for their new reading lists. These are for excellerated 6th graders so the reading level should be 7th -8th grade but be mindful of the maturity factor. My mind is stalling (in denial I think about school starting and I didn't do anything I wanted to this summer) any way, they needed suggestions for two units: Coming of age-with a positive upbeat theme. Maybe with a hispanic main character but not necessary. Just to give you an idea Esperanza Rising was too easy . and Main character has a physical/mental handicap they have to overcome. Thanks-I'll post a hit when I get soe responses.
