Pat,
We had a similar situation at a school in our district. The memorial books ended up 
not circulating because they weren't in the regular part of the collection: ie. 
there was a lovely dog book there that never was checked out because the kids would 
go to 636.7 for dog books.
Where I am now we keep a special notebook on display for all memorial books. Then, 
if someone wants to know where a certain memorial book is located, they can find 
the title in the book beside the name of the person for whom it was placed. The 
book also has a memorial plate in the front

A teacher's aid at our school lost an adult son last year.  This young man was a 
student here several years ago.

I do not want to have a special shelf with books donated in his memory.  Your 
thoughts please.

I have placed a special bookplate in each of the books that have been donated.  

Several of the books donated I would not normally keep in the collection, but this 
idea did not originate with me nor was it discussed with me before it being 
"advertised".
