There was an excellent article by Avi in the last SLJ. I've also visited his site and watched a video on TeachingBooks.Net about reader's theater. I'm eager to do this as the "entertainment" at an instore bookfair in January, teaming with a teacher or two. I would like to use a dialogue-heavy section of a book for middle school aged students as a reader's theater script. I'm wondering if any of you have used something that had broad appeal or maybe a particular scene comes to mind from a book and you can envision it being a great reader's theater script. I think humor or suspense would be good. I've been away from books for middle schoolers for about 14 years, so to say I am rusty as a reader's advisor is an understatement! (But I'm working to get back up to speed!) Any suggestions would be appreciated. Thanks in advance!
