Hello! As a recently hired library media specialist, I am doing inventory
of existing resources in my school's library. I have been struggling with
the idea of getting rid of the vertical files (VFs). The temporary
assistant told me that teachers and students seldom stop by to use these
VFs, as they now get their informational needs from Internet. Due to budget
constraints, it seems that I will be working without assistant(s), meaning I
won't have time to dedicate to updating and weeding the existing materials
in the VFs.

So, should I keep or discard the vertical files?

Any words of advice are appreciated.
