What program could I use to make a library map? I know I could draw one
and scan it, but I'd love to know how to make it look more professional
with a computer program (IMHO)

Thanks!
Carol

I’ve found a solution that works pretty well. I had a student aide who
was very computer savvy create a map of my library with all of the
furniture in the proper place. I keep plenty of copies of the library
map and make sure to hand a copy to the person or group who will be
using the library. I don’t ask them to put the furniture back in place.
Instead, I just tell them that I really appreciate that they will be
leaving everything exactly as they found it because I wouldn’t have time
to take care of it before MY next class. My library is even used for
blood drives and elections in addition to all the other groups and
gatherings. With the maps, they can’t say that they “would’ve put
everything back, but weren’t sure how it was to start with” or “I
thought you would rather put the furniture back so that it’s the way you
want it”. I think when all of these groups use the library, it can be a
good way for me to promote the library without much effort on my part,
and when these folks put furniture back in place, hopefully they realize
that the library is an important place for my students.
