Dear Wise Ones, Our 8th grade is looking for a novel - pre-American Revolution colonial period from Jamestown to early 1700s - that will not bring the wrath of our parents down on our heads. I just read A Mercy/Toni Morrison - a good read, but too steamy for us. Can you please recommend a title that would accurately and interestingly provide an experience of the period, sans the steam, at the YA level? Has anyone read Dark Enough to See the Stars in a Jamestown Sky/Connie Lapallo? Thanks so much for your great ideas! If there's interest, I'll post a hit.
