We have a Latin American literature class of 10th grade students who have (of course) a wide range of reading levels .. In a couple of months, they will be required to do an independent reading project, reading a book of fiction or memoir written by Latino/a author, -- I believe that the teacher will also allow them to read books which actually take place in Latin America as well. In anticipation I am putting together my lists and potential book orders. Some books are "off" the list, since they are read in class -- they include Like Water for Chocolate, House on Mango Street, Down These Mean Streets, How the Garcia Girls Lost their Accent, and Parrot in the Oven: Mi Vida. I know there have been some posts in the past with such lists, but of course I can't find them now. If you have a list, or have some titles to recommend, please send them on! I will post a HIT -- Rena Deutsch, Librarian Seward Park Campus Schools 350 Grand St. New York, NY 10002 (212) 475-4148 x435 rdlibnyc@gmail.com -------------------------------------------------------------------- Please note: All LM_NET postings are protected by copyright law.
