[LM_NET] SHARE: ALA Book Awards, Twitter, and Live Streaming

On a different note, I was very excited to be able to access Twitter
and the Live Streaming video from the Awards Presentation Ceremony
yesterday.  I had both screens open and I was watching, listening, and
reading the awards as they were announced (until the Twitter feed went
down); however, I then just jotted notes down as the awards were
announced.  And even though I wasn't there in person, I was probably
just as excited to see some of the books that I had purchased during
the past year being named as winners.

Interestingly enough, I shared the option of accessing the Twitter
feed of the awards presentation with my College of Education faculty,
but I also knew that many would probably be in the middle of classes.
However, around 11:00 p.m., I began getting emails and phone calls
from several of the faculty who teach the children's literature
courses asking anxiously "Who won?!!"  By that time, I had the entire
list of winners in a word document and was able to send them the
information to share with their classes that afternoon.  I had also
placed our book orders for the new winners and added that to the
emails.

Overall, I felt that because I had the opportunity to be there
"virtually" while still being able to provide immediate feedback (and
performing some of those administrative / clerical duties on the side)
was an awesome experience.  I really enjoyed the excitement and the
ability to participate--- (I just kept telling everyone to ignore the
"clapping" and "screams of excitement" that they were hearing inside
my office....I kind of got caught up in the excitement!)
