What official policies or procedures do your schools have for handling the sticky wicket of copyright permissions? Does your school even play popular music at assemblies, pep rallies, etc.? If a parent requests a copy of a videotaped school event in which music has been played (football game, concert, class play, event photos set to music, etc.) are you able to give away copies of the video? What if you charge for the copy? Is there a clearing house that makes this easy or is this a matter of individual detective work on a case by case basis? Does anyone have actual legal advice from a school or district attorney for guidance? We want to do the right and legal thing and train our students as well but feel a bit overwhelmed. Thanks!
