In relation to this, could you please tell me what you are purchasing (in the elementary sector) to replace devices for RECORDING? We used to use a cassette recorder + microphone (hand-held or built-in) but I am struggling to find a common, portable, sturdy and affordable device to suggest. (We still have the recorders but can't get the cassettes and can't convert the recordings to mp3 files) Its primary use will be to record short interviews which would then be uploaded to a computer as an mp3 file to accompany a digital presentation. It is not always possible or practical to record directly to the computer, as in the case of doing oral histories with older folk in their homes. It has been suggested that students use their mobile phones, but apart from the fact that not all elementary students have phones, I believe that the school should provide the device under access and equity issues. I have asked this question of many but have yet to get a satisfactory solution.
