LM_NET Archive

This has come up before and I remember my immediate response was with the
resounding "no group" "where would one find the time during the day?" Then I became
aware that week, that I do read at work, bits and bursts here and there.

I read LM NET- professional development and a pleasure, I check my e-mail a few
times a day if possible

I usually have a professional magazine like School Library Journal or the Horn Book
within arm's reach of my "teaching stool" sneaking in a few reviews or an article
while waiting for a class to arrive. If the there is quiet reading time after check
out " I model reading" with a book that is appropriate for the age group. It could
be something that I reviewing for publication or the classroom teachers' curriculum.

After classes are finished for the day. I may be reading education journals in
search of articles that the faculty or the dean has asked for on education topics
like reading, social studies, math, early childhood education, technology or
classroom management.

I have been know to come off the subway, arrive in my office, shrug off my wrap and
finish the last ten pages of a book so I can pass it on and not carry it home.

When weeding or pulling books for classes, I do find myself discovering picture
books in the collection and reading them at that moment.

I do read aloud a chapter book to our 3rd and 4th graders.

so the answer is yes, I read on the job.
