Dear Colleagues,
I just read an outstanding nonfiction book titled
THE LONG WALK: THE FORCED NAVAJO EXILE, published
in 2008 by Chelsea House. It is by Jennifer
Denetdale, a Dine (Navajo) woman who is an
Associate Professor in History at Northern
Arizona University. I just checked WorldCat to
see how many libraries have it, and only see 169
copies! Especially disheartening to me is that of
the libraries listed in Arizona, there are only
five libraries with the book: Arizona State, Dine
College, Coconino County Library, Pima County
Community College Library, and Prescott College Library.
That's terrible!!! It's an excellent book, and it
ought to be in every school library AND every public library, too!
I'm working on a review and will put it on my
site, probably tomorrow, but please! Order the
book! It is so much better than anything else available.
