they will often hang together and override the "word wrap" command.
Here's hoping it works this time ;)

Hi all,

My absolutely brilliant friend and colleague, Larry Magid, just wrote
an
article that references the Common Sense Media report on student use
of
technology for cheating.

http://www.pcanswer.com/2009/06/22/cheating-is-cheating-but-tech-offers-chan

ce-to-teach-critical-thinking/

"Cheating is cheating regardless of whether you use technology or
old-fashioned paper notes. I¹m appalled that kids may be using
technology
to cheat in school, but I¹m just as appalled at how schools are
cheating
kids when it comes to technology

But in addition to admonishing kids about why it¹s wrong to cheat,
perhaps
it¹s also time to rethink what it means to evaluate students in the age
of
the Internet and omnipresent mobile devices."

I encourage you all to read this. Other highly intelligent material
Larry
and his colleague Anne Collier have written is here:

http://www.connectsafely.org/. Note also the "sister sites" at the
bottom.

I highly recommend the material Larry and Anne write as conversation
starters for classroom discussions on these issues, especially at the
middle
and high school level. These articles will provide far better
instructional
resources than any "canned curriculum."

Anne, Larry, and I are among a group of folks (unfortunately still
small)
who are working very hard to dispel the fear-mongering in the area of
online
risk - so we can better prepare young people to make good choices and
also
allow them to totally benefit from this incredible new technology.

Nancy
