Hello and Happy Old Year, Colleagues,
After another strenuous June spent trying to collect lost books from students,
I was struck by the huge percentage of kids in this category who are in joint
custody, living in two households.
Can you suggest any books for kids on coping with this type of living
situation? It is hard enough for children to develop organizational skills without
this added burden. Often, they can't predict when they will be at one house or the
other, and often, too, they have to share bedrooms with other siblings who "own"
the room. One parent's home might be less organized than the other. Consequently,
the children are often not in control of their surroundings.
How can we help our students manage and stay on top of things under these
circumstances? Do any helpful books come to mind for children or for adults?
I am grateful for your help, and will post a HIT if there are any suggestions.
