Plus, in my school I partner with the local public library to get public
library cards for every student, and then teach students how to download for
free from the public library's online audiobook collection using their
public library card. We have some windows-based MP3 players available for
checkout so those who do not have their own can download as well. And
OverDrive Media (my public library's audiobook download vendor) now has a
growing collection of titles that can be downloaded to iPods, so kids can
use their Apple MP3 players, too. Here's a list of recommended MP3 players

Hi, Everyone.

 

My co-librarian and I are trying to determine the best way to start our
audio book collection in the high school where we work. We'd rather not buy
audio CDs as we're afraid they won't last or they will get lost. We would
really like to utilize the kind of technology that our students are using
everyday---namely the MP3 format.

 

I've talked with some librarians who check-out MP3 players to students &
staff and have a library subscription to audible.com (or some other
subscription service) which allows them to download a certain number of
audio books per month. That *might* work in our school but before we plunge,
I'm wondering----what do YOU do?

 

Does anyone have a creative way of ensuring audio books are available to
their school via some way other than the traditional CD?
