Thanks to all who responded with suggestions for this title, which included Artemis
Fowl, Abarat (Clive Barker), Atherton, The Alchemist, and Abhorsen. After running
all these suggestions by the student, she sent me a message via Facebook last
night--it's The Redemption of Althalus by David and Leigh Eddings. I don't think I
would have ever come up with that on my own! You gotta love those, "I want a book
and it's blue and it's about sports" kind of requests.

Wow, do I have a mystery for you all to solve:
I have a female high school student who is looking for a newish fantasy whose title
begins with the letter A and has the following letters as well: rr th u s. So it's
something like "A rr th u s." I've had some doozies in my day, but I'm really
struggling with this one. Any thoughts? I can't imagine a group more likely to come
up with a solution than this one. TIA!
