Okay, LM_NETter's. I take issue with the phrasing of this response below. It is
NOT unanimous that An Abundance of Katherines is not appropriate for middle school.
A listserv of 16,000 school librarians does not come to unanimous decision with
a "bunch" of responses. An Abundance of Katherines is not appropriate for all
schools, but may be appropriate for your or my student body. The book is on several
state children/YA's choice lists.
Saying it's not appropriate for all is censoring it. Not to demean the intent of
the poster, but I think we need to be more careful in our phrasings, praisings, and
condemnations. That's my opinion for the day.
"The jury is in! I've received a bunch of replies so far and it's unanimous - An
Abudance of Katherines by John Green is NOT appropriate for middle school.
