Well, the teacher called this afternoon. It seems that he wanted to have parents 
show up at the library to aide their children in getting library cards.

He sent a note home last week and none of his students' parents have bothered to 
respond. So, he canceled, planning to do this later in the week. Also, he agreed to 
shorten it to an hour and a half.

I got so many great ideas from all of you. A thousand blessings on your heads!!!!

I am going to add a couple, especially a scavenger hunt and a "Story time" where I 
read to them.

That will fill up the time well enough.  I believe this person is a rather new 
teacher as I have never met him before and I'm at the schools quite regularly since 
they got rid of all the librarians at the end of last year.
