Here are some of the smart board ideas that people were willing to share. If I
missed something or you would like to add to this discussion, please send it to the
list because there were MANY requests for a hit.
Thanks to all of you,

Here's a lesson plan I prepared for a
class that uses a SmartBoard. The lesson topic is a literary comparison between
the different Miss Nelson books by Harry Allard. You can download the files
from the site, and modify them for your needs:

There may be other useful lessons on this
site - just search by grade level.Good luck!

There are so many fantastic ways to use a smartboard in the library.
I use mine daily for at least part of every lesson.  If you are
lucky enough to get one I am more than willing to share some of my lessons and
places to find inservice, etc.  Good luck!

I use my SMART Board all the time. I use
SMART Notebook for author studies and other lessons. I use PowerPoint for genre
lessons, but always project on my SMART Board and use its features to scroll
through the lesson.

I read the story One Monkey Too Many by Jackie Koller.  I
then basically reviewed the story with them by incorporating addition
problems..  I had them come up to the board to write the numbers in the
blanks.  You can convert your tool from the wr
iting tool (so that you
can mark on the board) to the pointer tool (which allows you to advance to the
next page).

Any interactive game works on the Smart Board.  I have made up
games to learn the Dewey System.  I have taken table of contents, index,
glossary, etc. pages from books scanned them and projected them on the Smart
Board.  Then I asked questions.  Jeopardy is great fun.  The
students love it.  The preschoolers get so involved with pre-reading
games.   Smart Technologies has lots of lesson plans on the web site.

My school district has subscribed to a
site called quia.com. It has some very useful lessons for matching Dewey terms,
Caldecott winners etc.  There are
games

like "concentration" where the
kids tap the cards on the board and they flip over etc.   I like the jeopardy
games.

If you have "Smart Notebook" on
your computer you can create anything youwant to use for lessons.  You can create
games and have links for
sites to visit. during your lessons.
If you know how to type and add graphics, you

are set!

Here are just a few things I found the=0
ASmartBoard useful for:

-Using the built-in keyboard to demonstrate
the use of the online library catalog (author, title, subject, keyword
searches)

-Using the highlighting pens to demonstrate
how to zero in on important words and phrases when taking notes from online
databases and reference works ( I would follow this up by also teaching them
how to use those 3M highlighting strips similarly when working with print
reference works and nonfiction books)

-Creating webs in Kidspiration/Inspiration
software and having the students manipulate them on the SmartBoard
