I work at a high school, and reaching kids for a change in location/time
for a club can be a nightmare. Texting them an alert is easy now that I can
text them via email from my computer and put their cell#s in a distribution
group.

Have I seen some teachers put some ridiculous things on their facebook?
Yes. But I've also heard some teachers say some ridiculous things too. I
wouldn't blame the mode of the message for the quality of the message. If
you have teachers that aren't professional on facebook, chances are, they
are plain not professional elsewhere as well.

I don't facebook, but I also don't judge all those that do by the lowest
caliber of professionalism by people who are.

Use the tools that you need to send the message that you want to send to
accomplish the goal that you set.

Happy St. Patricks Day all!
