I'm 58, also in a high school. I have a FB account, but it is well 
hidden precisely so that students cannot find me. A year or so ago a 
couple of our students set up something that was not at all 
complimentary toward the principal, so I decided that I would make it as 
difficult as possible for someone to find me. Only one of my FB 
"friends" is someone that I've not met personally, and I know him well 
from his writings. The youngest "friend" I have is 21, and is my son's 
fiancee. She has been a family friend for more than 10 years.

Over the past few months I've made a conscious effort to check FB nearly 
every day, and I'm still not convinced that it is all that useful for 
me. If I ever was invited to become a "friend" of a student I'd most 
likely take myself off of FB immediately.
