I've switched my LM_Net subscription (and my other mailing list subscriptions) to a gmail account. Why? It provides powerful search capabilities so that I can find that LM_Net message I vaguely remember but want to see again. Gmail also places targeted ads in the right hand column beside each e-mail, but these are on point, possibly useful and certainly not distracting. It's just a personal choice on my part, so I'm not recommending it or endorsing it, but thought I'd share.
