Well, friends, the majority opinion is to try the book and chance it. The author sent a strong defense, including the fact that the song predated the development of the slang. He also included a number of reviews, which should be useful if the book is challenged. I think anyone going to his website will be convinced of the book's good purpose and quality art and music. So, barring a negative reaction from the music teacher, I will - probably- put it in the collection. Thanks to all who responded with helpful comments.
