A volunteer grandparent approached me today to provide assistance and input to organize their church library. Denomination is methodist if I am correct. I do not attend the church and that needs clarification. I would like to correspond with anyone who has done this off the list. I have some questions. At this point I am looking for the simple routines and practices of a small (church) library. One puzzler is the subject headings/organization/arrangement a.k.a. "cataloging" for a church library. I do not have a Dewey or Sears book. I wonder if there are alternate routes other than Dewey or Sears. Also, circulation of church library materials is an area where I need to have information to provide. I have looked in the lm net archives and pulled messages from that source. In the archives, I came across cataloging resources specifically for church libraries. I would welcome updates to those sources and contanct information. I did not commit to this project yet. Right now, I am doing my research/fact finding / "homework" Thanks for sharing your knowledge and expertise with this. I sincerely appreciate it. Please reply to me off the list.
