[LM_NET] OT: NYC only

My oldest cousin is getting married in Central Park in New York City this summer. 
My parents (retired teachers) are flying into Connecticut and they asked me to help 
them find a cheap, safe hotel to stay in that is within driving distance or near 
public transportation into New York City. I really don't trust them driving around 
Manhattan, so I'm hoping you can suggest some areas for them to look outside of the 
city.
